Community Midwife

Our Practice Midwife is available to help with your pregnancy and the early days after childbirth. Ante-natal clinics are held on Alternate Friday mornings from 9AM-2PM. We do not automatically visit on hospital discharge, however, if you need help please contact the surgery.

Please be assured your 6 – 8 week checks with the GP will be booked shortly after you have completed a registration from for your baby and we will be in contact to arrange a suitable date and time for you and your child to attend. You may receive a letter through the post regarding their 8, 12 and 16 week immunisations and they will be booked directly into our clinics.

The practice also offers a full range of contraceptive, pre-natal and ante-natal services.

You can also call our health visitor on 0116 215 3205. Please note, this is often a voicemail service where you will be required to leave a voicemail and they will get back to you.

District Nurses

The district nurse service include advice and nursing care to the acute and chronically sick and the terminally ill, specialist leg ulcer treatment, continence advice dressings, injections, blood pressure checks, taking blood samples, post-operative care, removal of suture clips.

The surgery would usually refer you to the district nurses directly or you can call them yourselves on 0300 300 7777.

Practice Nurse / Health Care Assistant

We have a team consisting of a practice nurse and a health care assistant who assist the doctors and provide a range of services which include diabetic monitoring, heart disease monitoring, blood pressure checks, asthma checks, cervical smears, weight reduction help, suture removal, wound dressings, blood tests, ear syringing and contraception advice. During October – December, the practice nurse also holds flu vaccination clinics. She can also give advice about minor illnesses and problems you may not be sure whether or not you should see the doctor about.
