Mounjaro Injections – NHS
Let’s talk weight loss
The weight loss medication Tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro started becoming available through primary care settings in the UK this week (23 June 2025) to those who are eligible.
HOWEVER, there is a VERY strict criteria to enable GP practices to begin prescribing this.
Mounjaro will only be considered via the NHS if the patient has a BMI over 40 and they have 4 or more qualifying co-morbidities – these being:
– Hypertension (a diagnosis of high blood pressure)
– Dyslipidaemia (a disorder of blood fats)
– Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (when your breathing stops and starts during sleep – must be diagnosed)
– Cardiovascular Disease (heart disease)
– Type 2 Diabetes
It is also advised that patients who meet the above criteria have also completed the initial weight management programme available through your GP (more information on poster).
Speak with us today to get your NHS weight management referral, please do not contact the surgery for Mounjaro if you do not meet the above criteria.
